On the first rev 1,2,7,3 fire and on the second rev 4,5,6,8 fire so to do that when cylinder 1 is top dead center firing cylinder 2 is half way up on compression stroke cylinder 7 is at bottom going to start its compression stroke and cylinder 3 is halfway down its intake stroke and cylinder 4 is at top dead center of its exhaust stroke. Then you move the crank another 1/4 turn and another 2 cylinders are at tdc Then rotate the crank another 1/4 turn and another pair come up.
